Read it back when it was so popular, and reread it in the early 90s. It didn't hold up for me, but I was much changed by that time.

Enjoyed THE HAWKLINE MONSTER; everything else seemed simple & self-indulgent.

I loved "Trout Fishing In America" when I first read it--in early 1968, just having been dumped by the first woman I could say I had fallen in love with. It somehow seemed like the perfect book to read under those circumstances. I think I have always has a copy around...when I tried to re-read it last year...well, it didn't go well. I must have changed in the ensuing 48 years...
