I bought a lot of Carter Brown paperbacks just for the covers.

This one has a terrific cover, doesn't it?

Carter Brown got very lucky with those McGinnis covers.

I'd always assumed that "Carter Brown" was a house name for a stable of contract writers. Bu, no: http://www.stopyourekillingme.com/B_Authors/Brown_Carter.html

Alan Jeffery Yates, apparently, born 1923, died 1985, First published book as listed was in 1949 (1929-1952 as Paul Valdez), last one in 1984. 250 books published in 36 years, an average of 7 per year...He must have written 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year...and never re-written...

Yates published at least one book under his own name in the U.S., and SF novel. I've always suspected that he might have had a ghost or two.
