I've read none of them but the Shirley Jackson (which I would hardly characterize as "underrated") and, in fact, haven't heard of quite a few of them.

Now I see that these are Facebook recommendations from who-knows-who I can feel free to ignore them. Few of them give you any information about the books, and even the ones that do are rarely helpful.

I'm with you, Jeffrey. I wouldn't look for enlightenment from the "BuzzFeed Community," not even on pop culture topics. Better resources to help in exploring horror fiction are "Horror: 100 Best Books" and "Horror: Another 100 Best Books."

Jack is probably inexplicably excluded from those lists, too.

I did read HORROR: 100 BEST BOOKS in 1992, which I believe was pre-Jack.

I think the world needs more Jack MacLane books; and fewer stupid lists. sas
