38 Movie Remakes Coming Up

I doubt that all of these will be made, and of course the real question is, why bother?

The Shadow and Conan, if done right, might be interesting. The rest-noooh! Considering Hollywood's track record, done right doesn't hold much resonance though.

I wouldn't mind a remake of RED SONYA, a terrible movie.

Interesting that all of these involve '70s and '80s source movies ("1984" included). Today's filmmakers are cannibalizing the movies of their youth. To be fair, Carpenter did the same thing. Wonder if the THING remake, if it materializes, will follow the Carpenter model or the '50s Hawks model? Stern was talking about his PORKYS movie years ago, and also a ROCK 'N ROll HIGH SCHOOL remake. If they haven't been made yet, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Some movies are just too good for them even to attempt a remake.

My personal opinion is that they should only remake bad or at best mediocre movies on the grounds that they're the ones that you can make right. Remember, between 1931 and 1941 The Maltese Falcon was made three times - once as Satan Met A Lady - but it was only the last one that got it right. So yeah, remake Red Sonya and make it better, remake The Shadow and make it better, but please please PLEASE keep your monkey paws off of The Birds you damned dirty apes, the way you should have kept your hands off of Planet Of The Apes.
