Into the Alternate Universe!

Evidence for a Parallel Universe? University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill physics Professor Laura Mersini-Houghton made a staggering claim. She says, “Standard cosmology cannot explain such a giant cosmic hole” and goes further with the ground-breaking hypothesis that the huge void is “… the unmistakable imprint of another universe beyond the edge of our own“.

Yes, and the server for the story you quote has been sucked into it! At least as of 1:24p EST.

I probably should've finished that mid-'80s novel I was writing (submitted the outline and chapters for college credit), involving the 11-dimensional model of the universe and an Earth in the early 21st century (CE) which was politically and economically dominated by a resurgent India and China (and a secular Arab woman facing some hard traveling in a Fallwellized eastern remnant of the US). DHARMA was the title. I think that compares favorably with Heinlein's projected "crazy years" in the '60s and '70s.

I want some of what tm takes and also - the problem with "fantastic theories of everything involving unknowable dimensions" is that it opens a door of misdirected wish-fulfillment....and does little else. and while I'm on the subject: even if every other-worldly fantasy is true...does that mean I still have to go to work tomorrow? Because if it does - who the hell cares.

This is like seeing a light in the sky that confuses you and proclaiming "it is an interstellar craft being piloted by sentient beings of vast intellect who are coming here to either give us tons of freee magic or else to destroy us." Which is a pretty big "or" for the utterance "it's either a familiar object under unfamiliar circumstances...OR..." and then comes the whole alien beings statement with all its luggage. It's the same damn this with this "void." Maybe it's just a frigging void. Period.
