I was in first or second grade when the first movie came out and the toys were a BIG deal. I remember getting a raincheck from somewhere like Target when an on-sale toy was out of stock.
I remember a classmate bringing one of the figures for show-and-tell and really being impressed and wanting one. The first figures my brother and I ever got were sent by our aunt, at Christmastime I believe.
We took the kids to the movie the day it opened. The next day we went out and bought t-shirts for everybody. I still have mine.
