Wasn't there a guy in North Texas who was building his own castle? I recall reading something in the Dallas Morning News about 15 years ago. He was designing a moat, a drawbridge, etc.

I'm guessing it's the one in Galveston? We've been to Hearst Castle twice and, of course, Belvedere Castle in Central Park (which is not really much of a castle, despite the name).

I rode past Belvedere Castle in Central Park...in, of course, a horse-drawn carriage.

I' surprised the Biltmore Estate wasn't included. We've been there and it's very impressive. I've also been to Hearst a couple of times.

Thanks for the warning; I hate slide shows.

Hearst Castle for me. Word of warning: Don't ask if Patty's home.

Dr. C. - me too!

Btw, Newman's Castle near Bellville, TX, has been there for some time. The guy built it, lives there, gives tours and owns a bakery-breakfast-lunch place in Bellville. Google for more info. No, I don't get a % 8-)

Very cool. I've been to Bellville, but I didn't know about the castle.

Newman's Castle must be the one I was thinking about. I thought it was further north.
