Woman in the Window is the number one noir film! No way. Mind you, I loved it up until the happy ending but the happy ending would move it way down the list for me.

If you ignore the order, they got most of the best films, though I would swap out the Kurosawa film for another, HIGH AND LOW. Glad to see a large number of modern pictures on there.

Mack, I agree. Noir films don't have happy endings.

I've seen at least 75 of the 100. He may think NIGHT MOVES was "criminally underrated" but we rented and watched it for the first time recently and frankly, I was disappointed. It was more in the Lachman "good but not great" category, IMHO. And MEMENTO is way higher than #75 on my list.

Nightcrawler gets referenced in number 15, Ace in the Hole. I think Nightcrawler is a nifty piece of neo-noir. Anyone have an idea what slot it would occupy in a list of noir films?

Haven't see that one yet.

I'm surprised that The Bride Wore Black didn't make it.

Bill,
Jake Gyllenhaal's Louis Bloom in Nightcrawler is seriously creepy and disturbing and well worth a watch.

I'll get to it eventually. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Overall, an impressive list. Although I'd put The Maltese Falcon higher, and did I miss it? The Big Sleep not on the list? Bogart is of course all over the list, as are Chandler and Hammett.
