Get a Rope

Longmont Times-Call: The 'Literary Litterbug," an Arvada man ticketed in April for dumping thousands of books along a section of U.S. 287 south of Longmont pleaded guilty in Boulder County Court on Thursday to three counts of littering.

Hat tip to Deb.

Hm. Why?

There's not a school, library, nursing home, women's shelter, homeless shelter, or laudramat in his vicinity? Apparently he had the CONTENTS OF AN ENTIRE USED BOOK STORE and he dumped it by the side of the road. He could have left them somewhere with a "Free to a good home" sign.

/Trying to avoid thinking about what first editions, obscure pulps, and hard-to-find titles he might have tossed. Yikes!

And an author reflects sadly, "To this end you must come."
