Help!: The Beatles' Second Movie

Help!: The Beatles' Second Movie

I remember seeing this one very well.  Judy and I had been married a couple of months, and we'd moved to Denton, Texas, where I was going to finish up my work on my M.A.  We saw the movie in a theater on the courthouse square.  I don't remember the name of the theater, though.

I don't remember where I saw it - I'm sure it was soon after it came out - but despite the color it was no A HARD DAY'S NIGHT.

Nonetheless, it was good fun and had Eleanor Bron, and better songs than the predecessor. You might or might not be surprised who remembers, and who doesn't, "I've had a lot of fun with this finger!" (I first saw it on television, natch.)

And it was in color. Judy approved of that.

A bit of a Richard Lester thing going on today... Help and Robin and Marion... both really good films... however, my favorite Lester film may be The Knack...

The Knack would be another good candidate for a Overlooked Movies post.

I re-watched it not long after I joined a curling team and was tickled to see the curling sequences. I had completely forgotten them. I love music in this one, particularly HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY.

I like that song a lot. I thought for sure it would be released as a single, but instead the Silkie did it. Every time I hear it, I think of the sequence from the movie.
