I remember searching for this book for months. I finally found it in a bookstore in Rochester, Minnesota while on a consulting gig in the late 1970s. Great start to a great series!

After I discovered SOUR LEMON SCORE in 1969, it took me three (pre-web, pre-Abebooks) years to backtrack and find all the previous books in the series. At that time, THE BLACK ICE SCORE and THE SEVENTH were still available from GM and Pocket, respectively, by mail order. I pieced together the rest, including THE HUNTER, mostly at various used book stores. Pat Erhart helped fill a good sized gap by supplying THE MAN WITH THE GETAWAY FACE, THE OUTFIT, and POINT BLANK (the GM movie tie-in). Those were the days.

Indeed they were, and thanks for the mention of Pat Erhart, one of the early names in the paperback collecting game. I used to correspond with her in the late '60s and early '70s.
