Bill,

I did a little research on this book for another project.

In 1975, NY Times crime reviewer Newgate Callendar chose it as one of the best of the month, writing:

“SKULL is about a professional killer and an ex-marine whose lives come together in a most unexpected manner. The writing is tough and earthy, and the book is not for the squeamish, but it is far better than the average.”

A reviewer closer to our day says that if you want to learn how to write sex scenes, read SKULL. (They did make me blush.)

The author was a longtime gun aficionado and father of the fight announcers Michael and Bruce Buffer.

That's all I got. Cheers,
Joe

Thanks, Joe. Great info. I remember reading this one and liking it quite a bit back in 1975.

I can't get over the back cover text that says, "He was the penultimate killer." How did that get past an editor? Oh, I know. There WASN'T one!
