I'd add Fredric Brown. Also Mickey Spillane, if only for the opening chapter of One Lonely Night.

I've nothing else to add yet, but the word verification is "graft". Appropriate, yes?

I've read 15 of the 20 titles listed. I'll have to track down those British titles and read them. Good list!

There were a couple on the list I'd never heard of (shame, shame), but I've read 14 of the 20. But what was the deal with the number 1's all the way down the page?

I missed a number of those. The Hunter (as PAYBACK) was filmed and released on DVD and later a DVD with a different third act.

Previously adapted as basis for POINT BLANK in the 60's, starring Lee Marvin and Angie Dickenson I believe.

I enjoyed the 1994 version of The Getaway. Especially all the scenes with Kim Basinger.
