I always thought these were the best of the cowboy hero Bs. Hoppy was smart and adult and tough only when he needed to be. He actually had a sense of humor. He was a cool guy. And Andy Clyde was actually subdued as his sidekick, a wry commentator rather than a clown. And as I watched a dozen of them a few years ago I realized that the writing was superior, too. Class act.
