I've always thought THE NATURAL was slow and overrated and I hate slow motion sports shots.

That said, the WORST baseball movie was one of two Yankee-related bombs, this one made to cash in on the Mantle-Maris home run race of 1961: Safe at Home!

Mantle and Maris played themselves, and...let's just say it's a good thing they didn't quit their day jobs for Hollywood.

As a Yankee fan I had to see it when it opened, but even as a 13 year old I knew it sucked.

(The second bad one was William Bendix in The Babe Ruth Story.)

Am I the only one who actually likes THE BABE RUTH STORY?

RHUBARB should definitely be on there. While I liked FIELD OF DREAMS, THE NATURAL, and BULL DURHAM, I never rated them as high as most people do. I like BANG THE DRUM SLOWLY better than any of those three. Mark Harris's source novel is even better, along with the other books in that series.

But baseball novels is a whole other subject, isn't it? (That's a list RHUBARB the novel should be on!)

It's funny, I was scrolling down and even before I hit your comment, I was thinking "I wonder if 'Rhubarb' is on that list?"
