I'm going to cheat and offer up a television program(me), the David Suchet Hercule Poirot series. Having an interest in graphic design, I've watched the openings repeatedly, even watching in slow-motion and stepping it through, frame-by-frame. The art deco effect is stunning and wonderfully sets the tone.

Further, this came at a time when the British had outdone themselves with Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes and Joan Hickson's Miss Marple. The music in the latter is perfection.

In negative contrast, the Miss Marples that followed Joan Hickson's had a retro-1970s feel, a signal that someone no longer cared to get it right.
